And agreat hailstones, about one hundred pounds ▼▼Greek a talent in weight
each, fell from heaven on people; and cthey cursed God for dthe plague of the hail, because the plague was so severe.1 The Great Prostitute and the Beast
2Then eone of the seven angels who had fthe seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of gthe great prostitute hwho is seated on many waters, 3 iwith whom the kings of the earth have committed sexual immorality, and jwith the wine of whose sexual immorality kthe dwellers on earth have become drunk.” 4And lhe carried me away in the Spirit minto a wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on na scarlet beast that was full of oblasphemous names, and pit had seven heads and ten horns. 5The woman qwas arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned rwith gold and jewels and pearls, holding in her hand sa golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her sexual immorality. 6And on her forehead was written a name of tmystery: u“Babylon the great, mother of prostitutes and of earth’s abominations.” 7And I saw the woman, drunk vwith the blood of the saints, the blood of wthe martyrs of Jesus. ▼▼Greek the witnesses to Jesus
When I saw her, I marveled greatly. 8But the angel said to me, “Why do you marvel? I will tell you ythe mystery of the woman, and of the beast with seven heads and ten horns that carries her. 9The beast that you saw zwas, and is not, and aais about to rise from abthe bottomless pit ▼▼Greek the abyss
and adgo to destruction. And aethe dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in afthe book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because agit was and is not and is to come. 10 ahThis calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated; 11they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while. 12As for the beast aithat was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction. 13And ajthe ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings akfor one hour, together with the beast. 14These are of one mind, and they hand over their power and authority to the beast. 15They alwill make war on the Lamb, and amthe Lamb will conquer them, for he is anLord of lords and aoKing of kings, and those with him are apcalled and chosen and faithful.” 16And the angel ▼▼Greek he
said to me, ar“The waters that you saw, where the prostitute is seated, are peoples and multitudes and nations and languages. 17And asthe ten horns that you saw, they and the beast atwill hate the prostitute. They will make her audesolate and avnaked, and awdevour her flesh and axburn her up with fire, 18for ayGod has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose by being of one mind and azhanding over their royal power to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled.
