aThis calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number bof a man, and his number is 666. ▼▼Some manuscripts 616
1 The Lamb and the 144,000
2Then I looked, and behold, on dMount Zion estood the Lamb, and with him f144,000 who ghad his name and his Father’s name written hon their foreheads. 3And I heard a voice from heaven ilike the roar of many waters and jlike the sound of loud thunder. The voice I heard was like the sound of kharpists playing on their harps, 4and they were singing la new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. mNo one could learn that song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. 5It is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for nthey are virgins. It is these owho follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as pfirstfruits for God and the Lamb, 6and qin their mouth no lie was found, for they are rblameless. The Messages of the Three Angels
7Then I saw another angel sflying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to tthose who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people. 8And he said with a loud voice, u“Fear God and vgive him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and wworship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the xsprings of water.” 9Another angel, a second, followed, saying, y“Fallen, fallen is zBabylon the great, aashe who made all nations drink abthe wine of the passion ▼▼Or wrath
of her sexual immorality.” 10And another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone adworships the beast and its image and receives aea mark on his forehead or on his hand, 11he also will drink afthe wine of God’s wrath, agpoured full strength into the cup of his anger, and ahhe will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 12And aithe smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and ajthey have no rest, day or night, these akworshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.” 13 alHere is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who amkeep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus. ▼▼Greek and the faith of Jesus
14And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: aoBlessed are the dead apwho die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, aq“that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!” The Harvest of the Earth
15Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and seated on the cloud one arlike a son of man, aswith a golden crown on his head, and a sharp sickle in his hand. 16And another angel atcame out of the temple, calling with a loud voice to him who sat on the cloud, au“Put in your sickle, and reap, for the hour to reap has come, for avthe harvest of the earth is fully ripe.” 17So he who sat on the cloud swung his sickle across the earth, and the earth was reaped. 18Then another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp sickle. 19And another angel came out from the altar, awthe angel who has authority over the fire, and he called with a loud voice to the one who had the sharp sickle, “Put in your sickle and gather the clusters from the vine of the earth, axfor its grapes are ripe.” 20So the angel swung his sickle across the earth and gathered the grape harvest of the earth and threw it into the great aywinepress of the wrath of God.
